Katie Fowler, from the University of South Carolina, talks to the NSCA Head Strength and Conditioning Coach, Scott Caulfield, about being part of a National Championship team/culture, successful intern qualities, being a female strength and conditioning coach in a male dominated profession, and the influence of data in strength and conditioning. Katie Fowler, CSCS, is in her third season as the strength and conditioning coach for the University of South Carolina women’s basketball team. Prior to joining the University of South Carolina, she spent three seasons as the assistant director for basketball performance at the University of Maryland, where she worked with women's basketball and helped them to the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Sweet 16 (2013) and two NCAA Final Fours (2014 and 2015), in addition to continuing to work with Maryland alumnae playing in the Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA). Fowler is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist® (CSCS®) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA), and holds Precision Nutrition Level-1 Certification and a Fascial Stretch Therapy Certification.
